Data Portrait: The Anatomy of Self (2011)

It's all the little things together that make each of us unique. This is the thought that I had, when coming up with this project. There are so many ways to represent a person and given the option to use any data, I went through a few possibilities. A list of data is just information that can be given any association, if paired with a concept or object. With that, I wanted to find out how much information is needed to portray a person. Similar to how we describe and buy our electronics, I wanted to use categorized specifications about myself that could tell quite a lot of information in very little text. Even the simple information of being an INTP type personality can give a mountain of information about me, if anyone looked it up. I’ve been extremely interested in Myers-Briggs personality tests and how we can generalize an entire population into 16 personality types. The notion that we can figure out a person in a certain category is similar to how we can look at RAM and CPU of a computer and figure out how fast it’s going to be, but it does require a specific set of knowledge to understand it. This piece is inspired by old anatomical drawings. The body parts are connected to usage, maintenance, and genetic information.
