P-FACS Committee Selection : looking for Image Arts students

The Project Fund Allocations Committee for Students (P-FACS) is conducting its selection process for the 2013-2014 committee members! This committee is made up of students from across campus who are responsible for granting funds to up to 80 student-led projects per year. You can get great experience for your resume, plus, help make important decisions that affect all of Ryerson’s community, and beyond. Jr. Flash Developer

Job Summary:

As a Junior Flash Developer you will be responsible for the production of Flash based media (mostly advertising, but not limited to). We’ve produced award winning works for recognized brands. You will work independently, or as part of a team to take visual design concepts and convert them into high quality Flash ads. You will have good understanding of best practice development techniques and completely confident working with AS2/AS3 code.

Experience Guidelines:

- Stellar skills programming in AS2 and AS3 using Adobe Flash CS6
- Graphics manipulation/optimization skills using Photoshop, Illustrator. etc.
- Heroic get-it-done attitude
- Good communication skills
- Be a team player
- Positive and eager to learn
- Ability to thrive under tight deadlines
- Able to manage time efficiently
- Must work in office, not remotely.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma/Certificate from an accredited College or University or demonstrated experience.

I am looking for a videographer and photographer to film and take pictures during my daughter’s 1st Birthday Party on the evening of September 14th, 2013, commencing @ 5pm at a banquet hall located in the Brampton/Mississauga area.

Hopefully this will also be a good opportunity for an aspiring photographer and videographer to develop their respective portfolios’. These are both paid positions however, my budget is limited which is why I am looking for Ryerson Students.

Filmmakers Needed for Yellow Rose Project

You will be helping us capture a senior prom for Holocaust survivors who never had the chance to experience one themselves because they were either in hiding or concentration camps.

The event takes place on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. The venue is at Bathurst St. and Steeles Ave. in Toronto.

Submissions for this year’s Monsters and Martians Science Fiction Film Festival taking place November 14th-17th are now open.

Submissions are now open for the second edition of the Monsters and Martians Science Fiction Film Festival. In our inaugural year, the festival’s lineup featured some brilliant and innovative films which addressed a broad range of concepts and ideas. From alien linguistics to the future of arts and music in Montreal and the potential pitfalls of Google Glass technology we explored a great deal of the potential that independent science fiction film has to offer. We intend to once again feature films that realize that aforementioned potential and push the boundaries of our understanding of what Science Fiction and speculative filmmaking means.

In the interests of fostering new talent and giving new and emerging filmmakers a spotlight and a platform they can use to showcase their talents, the Monsters and Martians Science Fiction Film Festival is offering a discounted submission rate of $10 per submission for students.

Short Films: 30 minutes or less Early Bird Fee: $15 Regular Fee: $20

Feature Length Films: Minimum 1 hour length Early Bird Fee: $25 Regular Fee: $30

Documentary: Any length Early Bird Fee: $20 Regular Fee $25

Documentaries featuring matters relating to science fiction, science fiction writers or science fiction fans will be considered.

Student Submission Rate is $10.

Snap & Dazzle (www.snapanddazzle.com) produces creative photography events that provide the opportunity for photographers to experience the work of a professional fashion, glamour or fine art photography.

ProStudios (www.prostudios.ca) is a premier and full service photography/video studio rental business that caters to all personal and commercial clients.

These roles will involve the management/creation of promotional, social media and website content for two photography companies.

Responsibilities:

-graphic design (designing promotional materials, including flyers, event postings, online newsletters, etc)

-solid writing skills

Job Description:

Freelance studio assistant required for busy photography studio.

The role will involve organizing and prepping product for shoots, setting up room sets (painting, etc)

Photoshop skills are essential, Capture One software knowledge is an advantage. Knowledge of Profoto, Speedotron, Broncolor lighting systems. Hasselblad, Canon camera system and personal vehicle is an asset.

This is an entry-level position, ideal for a photography graduate. You must be self-driven with an eye for composition and attention to detail and have good organizational and time management skills. This is a good opportunity to gain experience of the industry in a friendly environment.
