MicroFilms, a relatively new production company based right here in Toronto is looking for 3rd and 4th year Ryerson students! to intern on their short movie, ‘DEAD MONDAY” with a tentative shooting schedule set for the last week of November 2011. We need the several positions filled ASAP and although we would prefer students with a  couple of years under their belt, those others who are very motivated, have substantial onset experience and work well in a team, can also apply!

 

‘DEAD MONDAY’

 

“When a young man, living vicariously through his love of graphic novels, is ridiculed by his girlfriend he makes a bad decision that turns his safe world into one of that parallels his favourite comic series, DEAD MONDAY. A world of jealousy, murder and revenge!”

 

This film has all kinds of cool elements that will test the ability of all those who participate and you will be working alongside some very creative actors and experienced crew!

 

It is not a paid job, but could be used for a film CO-OP credit.  You get on-set experience, and this short (as well as others in the works) will be taken to festivals across North America.

Here are the positions available and if you apply by e-mail please include your experience pertinent to that position.

 

- Gaffer/Grip assistant to work with Key who must have lots of experience

- Art Department – storyboard and  graphics experience and skills crucial

- Key Set Decorator and assistant

- Key Props and assistant

- On set special effects – must be experienced!! (controlled rain in opening scene and other film noir techniques)

- 2nd and 3rd AD’s

- Continuity person (experience important)

- Assistant sound person

-Transport (there are vehicles in this story that must be managed. This could be a secondary responsibility for one of the other roles)

 

These jobs are all important and motivation, experience and being a group player are crucial to being part of a successful production team. It should be mentioned that these responsibilities will be spread between a small number of applicants, some individuals doing two or three of these jobs! Such is the way of the ‘compact’ production company.

 

Preparation is key to doing a great job and in this business we all depend on one another to succeed. There will be a production meeting with students and our team once we have enough applicants for the departments listed.

 

Besides co-writer and producer I will be acting as first AD and Production Designer and other co-writer Mark Korven is the Director.

 

Remember this is an intern situation, with each departments having a modest budget for materials. There will be the occasional feeding of crew! We look forward to talking with you and guarantee some creative and worth-while experience that will serve you well in your careers!
