Call for Proposals: @Spore_Contemp 2018 group exhibition “So Nasty” | June 1

Spore Contemporary Art Centre is seeking artists for possible inclusion in the 2018 group exhibition So NastySo Nasty seeks to explore notions of gender, futility, and technology.  Please see an explanation of the exhibition’s title, main ideas of interest, and submission guidelines below.

Exhibition Title and Main Ideas

The exhibition’s title is inspired by the following anecdotal event:

Stopping abruptly at a series of red lights, a male driver was witnessed attempting to speed.  The license plate read “sonasty”.

The character (male driver), the action (attempting to speed), and the object (the car) in this anecdote are the major influences that point towards notions of gender, futility, and technology.

This call for proposals is open to all media.  Works-of-art may relate to any one, or all three, of the main ideas (gender, futility, and technology).

Artists must include the following in a single PDF.

  • Artist statement and CV
  • No more than 5 images of previous work
  • Optional: link to website

Submit by June 1st with “So Nasty” in the subject line to: info@sporecontemporary.com
