Triangle Post is looking to hire for the following 2 positions:
1: QC Operator
2: Media Technician

QC Job Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of AVID Media Composer (project setups, folder/bin management, media
    management…)
  • Basic knowledge of media related spec/information (frame rates, aspect ratios, resolutions –
    HD/UHD…)
  • Basic knowledge of media workflow (drive transfers, media downloads…)
  • Basic knowledge of Excel and/or OpenOffice
  • A keen eye/ear for detail

QC Job Description:

A QC (Quality Check/Control) operator is in charge of screening shows that come in from various clients and jotting down any audio or visual impairments that could result in a rejection from a television network. This includes, but is not limited to: duplicated frames, dropped frames, missing media, improper audio stems, out of sync visuals etc. The shows vary between half hour and full hour run times and cover multiple delivery formats and network destinations.
The quality check operations are done within the AVID interface and recorded to a document (QC report) at the end of the screening process. This document is then reviewed and sent to the client for fixes and feedback before the episode can be delivered to the network and air on television.

Media Technician Job Requirements:

  •  Basic knowledge of AVID Media Composer (project setups, folder/bin management, media
    management…)
  • Basic knowledge of media related spec/information (frame rates, aspect ratios, resolutions –
    HD/UHD…)
  • Basic knowledge of media workflow (drive transfers, media downloads…)
  • Ability to follow work order details (ie. deliverable specs, upload information, client requests…)
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and adhere to delegated deadlines
  • Knowledge of HDCAM decks, DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Final Cut are a plus

Media Technician Job Description:

A media technician is in charge of setting up AVID projects, verifying delivered media and creating deliverable files that are sent to the client to then be given to the respective network. Setting up projects involves making sure all media is online and the client has sent everything that the online editor/audio engineer needs (AAF for audio, QT reference, AVID media…). The media technician must also note any discrepancies found during this process so they can be communicated back to the client. The media technician must also create deliverable files for clients based on media and spec provided. These files are the completed videos that include final edit, colour and audio that will be delivered to the network to then air on television.

General Job Details:

This job is a freelance/contract based agreement. Length of contract is subject to change but availability should be flexible. The job would fall primarily on weekdays as the facility’s working hours are Monday through Friday. The hours would range from a maximum of a standard eight hour work day to less if workload is light. Hours will be logged in an Excel or OpenOffice document and submitted weekly for bi-weekly pay. Pay-rate is negotiable and is hourly.
