Job Opportunity | Centauri Arts Camp: Film Instructors Required!

Centauri Summer Arts Camp is a specialist overnight program for young people from all over the world interested in exploring the arts. For summer 2019, the camp is looking to hire two FILM INSTRUCTORS to design and teach two-week film programs. Duties include creating curriculum and teaching specialist film programs for 16 youth aged 12-18, for 4 hours each day. Students are taught a range of film production skills and then assisted as they work in teams to create a short film which is screened on the final day. To fill these positions, we are looking for film professionals who:

  • Have related qualifications at the degree level
  • Can demonstrate professional experience in the film world
  • Have experience teaching and working with young people
  • Are able to edit the films created by students
  • Love the exciting atmosphere of overnight camp
  • Are looking for a unique creative challenge this summer!

In addition to teaching for 4 hours per day, our instructors have a community involvement in the life of camp.

Accommodation is provided free of charge in single rooms in a ‘staff house’ on camp, shared by 9 other arts professionals. Meals are also provided free, and eaten in our dining hall. We have two contracts available, one in July and one in August, and candidates are welcome to apply for one or both. Attendance for on-site staff training between 27-29 June is mandatory, but we can help with transportation from Toronto. The contract fee for this position is $1300 to $1500 per session, depending on experience.
