APPLICATION PACKAGE

The standard School of Graduate Studies online application package consists of an application form and fee, academic references, official transcripts of complete academic records from all post-secondary institutions attended and a program specific Supplementary Admission Data form which will include instructions on how many copies of these documents are required.

Application packages are available on this web site, from the (MUST LINK)
School of Graduate Studies.

Formal Procedure for Application

Prospective candidates may wish to request information from the Program before applying, and, in the process of reviewing applications, some Programs will wish to interview individual candidates personally.

This section describes only the formal procedure for application.

Candidates will formally apply to a Program through Graduate Studies Admissions. The complete application package should be returned to the Graduate Studies Admissions Office directly. Do not forward applications to the specific Programs as this may delay the processing of your application.

When an application is received and all supporting documentation is matched and verified, the Office of Admissions will forward the application and documents to the appropriate Graduate Program for review. The official Offer of Admission will be issued by the Graduate Admissions Office.

Application Dates

Application for admission should be made as early as possible and offers of admission may be issued at any time. All complete applications (including application fee) and amendments received by the appropriate deadline will receive equal consideration. Those received after that date will be reviewed subject to space availability and might not be considered because of a filled program status.
Application for First Consideration – January 15, 2007Applicants who submit all required documentation by January 15, 2007 will be given first consideration for admission.  Completed applications received after this date will be considered as part of a rolling admissions cycle. The date has been selected in order to allow sufficient time for Interviews, selection tests, etc. to be arranged, where required by the Program, and to ensure that applications (and amendments to applications where required by the individual program) will be received in time for consideration by the Program selection committees.

Applications for Fall 2007 have been posted here: Admissions Forms (LINK)

English Language Proficiency

Applicants whose language of instruction during their undergraduate studies was a language other than English are required to submit a test of English language proficiency. Some programs have a higher requirement than the minimum requirement by the School of Graduate Studies so applicants are advised to consult specific program policies on English proficiency. Students may submit scores from either Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Cambridge International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) test.

The current test score minimums for the School of Graduate Studies are as follows:

• TOEFL Internet-based: Overall score of 93,
(plus 22 minimum in Speaking and Writing sections)
TOEFL computer-based: Overall score of 237
• TOEFL paper-based: Overall score of 580
• IELTS: Overall band score of 7.0
• MELAB: Total score of 85

Please be aware that where an English Proficiency Test is required, the application will not be assessed for admission without a test result that meets the program minimum.

Transfer of Credit

Where a candidate has completed appropriate graduate courses at an acceptable level from another academic institution, these courses may be recognized in partial fulfillment of Ryerson's degree requirements. Responsibility for assessing the appropriateness of such courses shall rest with the Director of the Program. Credit for such work shall not exceed fifty percent of the Program's degree requirements.

Ryerson reserves the right to terminate the application process without notice.
