The Ryerson Cinema Politica local hosts and disseminates screenings of politically based contemporary documentary film to provoke and advance Ryerson’s social justice culture. We have an open, inclusive, accessible membership base hosting monthly documentary screenings throughout the academic year that address a vast range of topical, contemporary social issues. DocNow is the annual interdisciplinary documentary festival featuring the work of Ryerson University’s Master of Fine Arts program in Documentary Media. This multi-art, multi-media festival showcases film, photography, installation and new media work by the graduating students of the MFA program, at various locations all over the city of Toronto. Centre for Free Expression:

The Centre for Free Expression is a hub for public education, research and advocacy on free expression and the public’s right to know. They work in collaboration with academic and community-based organizations across Canada and internationally, such as DMRC (see events).

The Atomic Photographer’s Guild

The Atomic Photographers Guild (APG) is an international collective of artists dedicated to making visible all facets of the nuclear age. Created in 1987, the APG documents the history, impact and ongoing legacy of the atomic age – emphasizing nuclear weapons mass-production, atomic testing and proliferation, nuclear power, reactor accidents, radioactive waste containment, irradiated landscapes, and radiation affected populations. The APG has established an archive of images from 1945 to the present.

The Documentary Organization of Canada:

The Documentary Organization of Canada is the collective voice of independent Canadian documentary creators and it the nation’s premier organization for documentary advocacy.

The Catalyst at FCAD: 

The Catalyst is a large-scape space dedicated to scholarly, research, and creative (SRC) activities within the Faculty of Communication and Design (FCAD) at Ryerson University. Located on the 2nd floor of the Rogers Communication Centre, The Catalyst houses several SRC projects, labs, and research centre such as the DMRC. The Catalyst serves to support potential, nascent, and ongoing projects by researchers and their collaborators.
