Aashiyaan is a mobile-based interactive documentary that presents the lives, mobility and experiences of the ‘invisible’ women of Delhi. Domestic workers and their employers i.e. homemakers share conversations, personal moments and critiques that talkback to the tag of Delhi being the ‘Rape capital’. Conceived as a transmedia project (mobile app, web doc, installation) the documentary centers on the methodology of co-creation. Code for Boston is the primary technology partner for the project and Aashiyan has received mentorship from– Dr Krishna Sankar Kusuma (India), Ryerson University (Canada) and the Open Documentary Lab at MIT (USA).
